Barnegat Bay Day Sails |
Yes! We
had perfect sailing weather for our Barnegat Bay Day Sail event. As advertised,
the event was “a sailor's delight”. The outing included a morning sail on two
boats from the Barnegat Bay Sailing School (BBSS) located at Cedar Creek Marina
in Bayville, NJ, followed by a luncheon at a nearby ocean front restaurant.
Eleven members participated in this event and we also had our commodore Bob
Rainey join us for lunch. The boats were skippered by experienced local captains
from the BBSS who provided our members with an opportunity to take the wheel,
assist with sails, and learn about the bay. The crew on one of the boats was
treated to a special experience when they ran aground on the way out of the
marina and were successfully pulled off by a motor boat. As an added feature
they ran aground again on the way back to the marina and this time, the crew had
to be ferried back to the dock by motor boat! All in all, it was a perfect day
sail outing.
