After rounding up everyone from the day hike, we boarded our boats by early afternoon, and made a short sail across the bay to Cradle Cove. Winds were favorable, running Southwest at 15 to 20 knots.
Along the way to Cradle Cove, the crew of "Fascination" got to see the local Seal herd's favorite sunning spa, the Minot Ledge exposed at low tide. Cradle Cove is a secluded mooring field in between 700 Acre Island and Islesboro Island. After we had moored, John Foord led a mussel gathering expedition along the shoals exposed at low tide on 700 Acre Island.
Sundown at the Cradle Cove proved to be an exquisite photo opportunity, the first of many such sunsets during this trip.
